Two treated for smoke inhalation after a fire in a cooker, Edinburgh

A man and a woman had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire in a cooker at an Edinburgh flat.

Firefighters from Tollcross and McDonald Road responded to the fire call at a four-storey tenement in St Leonard’s Street shortly after midday on Tuesday afternoon (3 April).

The fire had been extinguished prior to crews arriving but an ambulance had to be called for a 64-year-old woman and a man aged around 29 years, both of whom were suffering from smoke inhalation. Residents in the neighbouring flats were checked by fire crews and reassured that the blaze had been extinguished.
